About Competition

Koding Next, in collaboration with our partner Penerbitan Pelangi, is preparing to launch the International Environmental Coding Competition (IECC) in Malaysia starting August 2025. This initiative mirrors the existing IECC framework from Singapore but with an enhanced competition structure to maximize engagement, visibility, and local impact.

This competition is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action), encouraging participants to develop innovative coding solutions that address environmental challenges and promote sustainability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • The International Environmental Coding Competition 2025 is an international-level children’s coding competition organized by Koding Next, in collaboration with Penerbitan Pelangi. The competition is divided into two categories: Scratch Coding Competition and Roblox Coding Competition, which can take the form of storytelling projects or Roblox 3D games.

  • Yes, there is. Participation is free of charge for public school students. For students from international schools, the registration fee is RM 200. Meanwhile, students from our partner schools will receive a 50% discount on the registration fee.

    • Stage I (Regional): The Top 10 participants per category will advance to the National Final.

    • Stage II (National): The Top 1 winner per category (Scratch & Roblox) will represent Malaysia at the International Final in Singapore.

    • Stage III (International): National winners will compete against winners from other countries on the global stage

  • We regret to inform you that students who placed in the Top 3 of NCC 2024: Code The Air are not eligible to win in the International Environmental Coding Competition 2025, unless they compete in a different category

  • Each participant is only allowed to take the qualification test once during the test period. Please make sure to prepare yourself well before taking the test

  • No. Stage I (Regional) will be held online. Stage II (National Final) will take place offline at Wisma Pelangi, Malaysia. If there are any changes to the location or schedule, the latest updates will be announced on the official IECC website and Koding Next’s Instagram @kodingnext

  • Software Requirements:

    • Scratch 3.0: Participants in the Beginner Category must use Scratch 3.0 to create their project. This software can be accessed via browser or downloaded for free from the official Scratch website.

    • Roblox Studio: Participants in the Advanced Category must use Roblox Studio to create their project. Roblox Studio can be downloaded for free from the official Roblox website.

    Hardware Requirements:

    • PC/Windows: Windows 10 with Internet Explorer version 11 or higher.

    • Mac: macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or newer.

    • Accessories: A two-button mouse with a scroll wheel is recommended to make project creation easier.

    • Internet Access: A stable internet connection is required to keep the software up to date and to save projects successfully to your Scratch 3.0 or Roblox account. We recommend an internet speed of at least 4–8 MB/s
